Raquel Raquel is an old scarlett macaw. She has a history of neglect & abuse. Owners placed her in a corner of a pet store to be sold. Bird has missing toes, no tail and arthritis therefore no one wanted her. Finally relocated to our rescue. Many years later she is still with us , loves attention & is doing well.
Zazu She is a blue & gold macaw. Unfortunately she was constantly caged and left alone, in frustration she plucked herself bald. Owner didn't want a plucked bird so was left here. Her feathers won't grow back .
Uno He is a harlequin macaw. Owner wanted to sell him. I said I do not buy birds. I only rescue unwanted ones. She finally left him here. No buyers, not abused. A great talker and dearly loved.
Tarzy & Lucky Tarzy and lucky are two blue and gold macaws that are bonded. Lucky was found in a santeria animal shops where animals are sold for sacrifice because of voodoo religion purposes practiced widely in South Florida. I never buy birds but I had to rescue Lucky therefore I payed $400 ransom money to get him out. Tarzy on the other hand flew into our yard seeking for food. An X-ray showed her air sacs to be coated with a black soothed indicating the previous owner had probably been a heavy smoker.
Harley & Trogan Harley and Trogan are two Harlequin macaws. Harley was given to me by an underground bird broker very thin and weak due to poor nutrition. She was put on medication for a very elevated white count. She has bonded with Trogan, a male who was sent to us from another rescue. No abuse there that we know of.
Oscar & Goderich Oscar is a blue and gold macaw was dumped on us by a couple who no longer wanted him and was bonded with Ringo , my first macaw who was also a blue and gold macaw who died a few months ago from unexplained kidney failure. She was 35. A heartbreaking loss! Now Oscar lives with Goderich, a male green-wing macaw who is as sweet as he can be with such a charming personality!
Cally & Berry Berry is a greenwing macaw that was lost and found in a tree and was relocated here. He bonded with Cally a female Scarlet Macaw found dying on a breeder farm. She has a crippled foot but is now happy and doing well.
Cappy Cappy is a African grey that was relocated to our rescue due to the owner having health problems and no longer was able to care for him, no abuse.
Sharley Sharley is a African grey that was relocated in our rescue because the owner didn't want her anymore. She cannot fly and is also crippled.
Baby Baby is a African grey who was placed at our rescue due to long hours of work and also a the owner had just had a baby, no abuse nor neglect.
Clancy Clancy is a African grey. He was found on a roof. No microchip. Owner never located.
Simba Simba is a African grey. Found on a woman's patio table starving. She could not care for him and brought him to us. Now eating well, flying outside in the aviary,whistling and happy. No microchip. Owner never found.
Max & Ruby Max is a greenwing macaw and Ruby is a scarlet macaw. They both came from a breeder animal farm, the abuse was so horrific and serious that animal control seized among 600 birds and closed down the farm.
Tres & Crockett Tres and Crockett are both blue and gold macaws. Tres was found flying over Washington D.C. and was captured by PETA and relocated here. Crockett's former owner was dying of cancer and the family relocated her here.
Sargeant Sargeant is a miligold macaw ( a hybrid of blue and gold/military macaw) he was placed here by a family who didn't want him anymore because of his screaming.
Bertha Bertha is a greenwing macaw, owner relocated her here due to long hours of cage confinement and perpetual screaming.
Atiem & Louisa Atiem and Louisa are two hyacinths (brother & sister) no abuse, happily living here.
